The CEO of Global Cellular was debating whether or not to close the business down when he decided to hire an expert team to salvage what was left. Although there was barely a pulse, Swashbuckle Media was hired as part of a team to salvage the business.

Some early warning signs came from the calls and emails the CEO was getting from website visitors. His staff found themselves trying to convince people that they were a ‘real’ company. The site they were landing on did not give the viewer confidence enough to want to proceed with contacting them. It was a textbook example of what many business websites suffer from, which is too many conflicting messages and choices instead of providing one easy path to get the user to respond.

We started by getting inside the head of their target customer. We asked a lot of questions to find out who they were, where they traveling to overseas, and why do they want a phone. Getting to the core of what was most important to them emotionally became a priority for us as we build a strategy to reach them.

We also found out from our research was that this was a last minute decision for most customers. Therefore, in the creative and copywriting, we emphasized extremely quick turnaround options. In addition we discovered that over 60% of the customers were going to a few very specific countries, and we proceeded to use colors and flags from these countries in primary locations on the page.

The results were highly favorable. Instead of closing the doors, the business tripled. Within a few months, more staff were needed to handle the increased volume. Now the CEO is expanding his business to provide more services to his ever-growing customer base.
